Welcome to Cape Fear CREW Hunter Cain!
Hunter Cain, Managing Director, Development at Clarendon Properties, relocated from Dallas and has joined the team at Clarendon Properties as Managing Director, Development. In his role, he is responsible for originating, structuring, and executing development opportunities, primarily in healthcare and hospitality. Hunter also provides strategic leadership to the firm’s business development efforts, deal structuring and syndication, capital relationships, and operations. He also will help grow Clarendon’s healthcare platform.
“Professionally, my goal is to provide exceptional service and results, with relentless effort, integrity, and humility,” Hunter said. “I pride myself on forming lasting and effective relationships with colleagues, clients, investors, and other stakeholders and service providers.
What I enjoy most about working here is the process, which begins with only a vision and a piece of land, and after months (usually years) of hard work, dedication, and resilience by our team, the result is a first-class product that serves the community or visitors for decades. Visiting our sites is a reminder of the complexity and intricacy each project requires and how important everyone’s role plays in the development process.”
Hunter has an extensive background in finance and commercial real estate, including acquisitions, development, and investment banking, primarily in healthcare. He holds a BS and MS from the University of Florida. Hunter also played tight end for the Florida Gators football team and is a varsity letterwinner and all-SEC academic honor roll team member.
Hunter says “CREW is an exceptional platform for networking and building synergistic relationships within other CRE sectors, here in Wilmington and nationally. The diversity of our members and their businesses also provides unique perspectives for personal and professional growth. I’m grateful to be a part of the CREW network.”
Potential clients for Hunter are those seeking a build-to-suit or development partner for their medical/dental practice, retail location, or light industrial/storage/distribution needs. With his primary focus on healthcare clients, any referrals to local providers (doctors, dentists, vets, etc.), who are looking to expand their presence and are seeking ground-up development/construction are appreciated. Additionally, he appreciates introductions to capital partners (lenders and investors) locally and nationally.
Hunter is passionate about serving local nonprofits and charitable organizations. He is heavily involved with Special Olympics New Hanover County, where he is the Basketball coach and will lead the team this summer at the State Games, which hosts all NC Special Olympics chapters for team and individual sports competitions. Hunter also received the award for “largest individual fundraiser” at the 2022 Polar Plunge event.
Hunter is an advocate for ocean conservancy and protecting our local waterways. He helps the NC Coastal Federation through the Wrightsville Beach Outrigger Canoe Club, Surfrider Foundation, and the Wrightsville Beach Longboard Association.
Hunter is an avid surfer and paddler. When he is not on the water, he enjoys reading philosophy and military history and recently started painting.
