Meet Lauren Brown!
Lauren is an Interior Designer with
Big Sky Design. Fellow CREW member Jennifer Kraner, Principal and Senior Interior Designer, started Big Sky Design 24 years ago. This May, Lauren will have been with Big Sky for six of those years.
Lauren began in interior design as a young girl drawing up make believe floor plans (with spiral staircases ) and dog-earring furniture pages of those massive, old Spiegel catalogs (remember those?!). After high school, she moved south to pursue her dream and hasn't looked back. She has been practicing interior design for almost 17 years in both residential and commercial spaces. Lauren meets with clients to learn about their wants and needs for their spaces, whether it's a renovation or full ground-up construction, and then helps bring those desires to life. Lauren's role includes concept development, material specifications, construction plans and documents, furniture and material procurement, as well as client relations and project management. Her gift: helping people and businesses make decisions that will help them not only enjoy their new surroundings but also to function at their best.
CREW is a natural fit for Lauren's field. She enjoys meeting new faces and the opportunity to network with other commercial real estate industry members in Wilmington. CREW provides a space for professional community members to learn and grow from each other and to share one another’s knowledge and experience. There is no project too big or too small for Lauren. She and the professionals at Big Sky Design can help with smaller projects, like art placement and paint selections, to ground up construction projects that include space planning, finish selections, and furniture specifications. With a 50/50 focus on residential and commercial design, they welcome all project types.
When Lauren isn't busy channeling her inspiration/designer idols Kelly Wearstler, Kit Kemp, and Barrie Benson, she enjoys running, crafting, aromatherapy, cooking, gardening, learning new skills – especially if they involve fun house projects – and card games with her kids. Lauren has two children, seven-year-old daughter Marion, and two-year-old son Sullivan. She and husband Shane will be celebrating their 11-year marriage this May.
Lauren believes that if you love what you do, it doesn’t feel so much like work. Lauren's primary goal is to continue to enrich people’s lives by improving their surroundings and to inspire others in their built environments. Her interior design projects incorporate her love of art, math, puzzles, and helping people to feel good in their surroundings – the perfect blend to achieve that goal.
