A Premier Commercial Real Estate Awards Coming to Wilmington, NC February 27th, 2020!

On February 27th, 2020, Cape Fear CREW will hold its 2nd Annual Awards of Excellence, recognizing excellence and leadership in commercial real estate in the Cape Fear Region. We invite the public and Cape Fear CREW members, along with their companies, business colleagues and partners, to nominate or apply for the awards. Submissions will be accepted October 1 through December 13, 2019 and there is no charge to nominate. Apply or nominate in one of the categories listed below, or use this survey if you have a suggestion for us to consider.

*Projects/Initiatives need to have achieved Certificate of Occupancy or substantial completion between January 1, 2018 and December 31, 2019 to be eligible for submission and must be located in New Hanover, Brunswick, Pender, Onslow, Duplin, Sampson, Columbus or Bladen counties.

Dealmaker Award

The Dealmaker Award recognizes a person or team who demonstrated excellence, resourcefulness, collaboration and industry best practices while working on a successful transaction. Transactions can include a lease, sale or acquisition, financing, re-zoning or site plan application or other transaction supported by members of the commercial real estate service practice areas. Eligible teams may include brokers/agents, bank officers, mortgage bankers, in-house professionals or other professionals, including attorneys, accountants, valuation and title experts, etc.

Judging Attributes
The judging panel will use the following attributes to rank, review and discuss the Dealmaker Award nominations:

  • Complexity of the transaction
  • Creativity and resourcefulness used to accomplish the transaction
  • Collaboration with transactional parties to the transaction
  • Use of best practices in commercial real estate to achieve the transaction
  • Financial or client success achieved by the transaction

Economic & Community Enhancement Award

Real estate projects can transform the built environment and have the power to revitalize a community, often beyond the boundaries of the project. This award showcases the critical impact that real estate development can have on the lives of residents and businesses in the Cape Fear Region. These projects can inspire and provide hope in a community, house important programs, deliver services or provide jobs. This award will honor projects that promote economic development and/or enhance communities by improving quality of life and fostering the overall social and economic interest of those communities.

Judging Attributes
The judging panel will use the following attributes to rank, review and discuss the Economic and Community Enhancement Award nominations:

  • Description of external impacts of the project on the surrounding area, using images and measurable outcomes
  • Description of the communities served
  • Specific measurable outcomes, including aesthetic improvements, economic impact, jobs provided

Best Interior Award

Exceptional interior design connects the functional, emotional, and organizational needs of a client with the environment that will align with these goals. The Best Interior Award recognizes exceptional interior design and the intentional and impactful design decisions that were part of a project in the Cape Fear Region. Project team members must exhibit not just excellence in design and technical expertise but must also demonstrate the ability to connect with and understand the users of the space/building.

Judging Attributes
The judging panel will use the following attributes to rank, review and discuss the Best Interior Award nominations:

  • Impact of new or innovative design strategies, material or technologies
  • Visual, functional, emotional and/or organizational impact of design
  • Successfully overcoming obstacles or challenges
  • Meeting the strategic goals of the client

Career Advancement for Women Award

This award recognizes a company or individual who consistently exemplifies Cape Fear CREW’s commitment to elevating the status of women by supporting the advancement of the careers of women and who has shown leadership in encouraging and promoting women within the leadership team.

By example, a nominee who has supported the advancement of women might do this through any of the following:

  • mentoring
  • effecting policy change within government or individual companies
  • research, white papers or speaking engagements that elevate the status of women
  • meaningful participation in industry organizations, committees, educational or other institutions that do work to advance women
  • connecting or making introductions that help women advance

Judging Attributes
The judging panel will use the following attributes to rank, review and discuss the Career Advancement for Women Award nominations:

  • Nominee’s efforts to advance women (rated using mentorship, policy changes, hiring practices, networking, and industry participation)
  • Nominee’s impact based on measurable outcomes
  • Significance of the impact, including an enduring impact on the industry and the individuals impacted

Creative Marketing Award

Creating the messaging and brand promise for real estate projects, public initiatives, companies, retailers and civic organizations is a unique challenge for the marketing industry in the Cape Fear Region. The Creative Marketing Award honors a company, individual or team who has developed the most creative and effective advertising or marketing program to promote or feature commercial real estate, including projects, properties, transactions, public or private initiatives and/or commercial real estate services.

Judging Attributes
The judging panel will use the following attributes to rank, review and discuss the Creative Marketing Award nominations:

  • Level of innovation, creativity and sensory impact of campaign
  • Measurable impact on the project, transaction, initiative or services
  • Successfully overcoming challenges or obstacles
  • Meeting the strategic goals of the client

Placemaking Award

The best real estate developments and redevelopments capture the imagination of their communities and create a unique sense of place. The Placemaking Award recognizes a team who worked together on a development, major renovation, or redevelopment project in the Cape Fear Region that demonstrates excellence in functionality, aesthetics and relationship to surroundings. Projects in this category include mixed use, office, retail, hospitality, multifamily, condominium or any combination thereof. This award will honor excellence in architecture, site planning, approach to the market and marketability, impact on the surrounding community and contribution to the economic health of the area.

Judging Attributes
The judging panel will use the following attributes to rank, review and discuss the Placemaking Award nominations

  • Functionality, aesthetics and relationship to surroundings by creating a sense of place
  • Impact of new or innovative design strategies, material or technologies
  • Project impact on the surrounding community and contribution to the economic health of the area
  • Successfully overcoming obstacles or challenges
  • Meeting the strategic goals of the client

Impact Award (nominated by Cape Fear CREW Board of Directors)

The Impact Award recognizes an individual or company who has consistently exemplified the traits of outstanding leadership in the commercial real estate industry and who has made a significant contribution to, and has had a significant positive influence on, the Cape Fear region’s commercial real estate industry.

Beth Quinn Excellence Award (nominated by Cape Fear CREW Board of Directors)

This award honors a Cape Fear CREW member who has demonstrated exceptional dedication and outstanding contributions toward the success of Cape Fear CREW and exemplifies the values and spirit of the late Beth Quinn, a founder of our Chapter and leader within the region’s commercial real estate industry. The recipient will be a member who consistently exemplifies her traits of outstanding leadership, integrity, ability to inspire action, authenticity, decisiveness, responsibility, persistence, dedication to fostering success and responsive, loyal and supportive relationships.
